Guided Game Drives
Sunset and sunrise game viewing drives in open Land Rovers provide the perfect opportunity to encounter some of Africa's incredible wildlife. Enjoy sightings of cheetah, white rhino, elephant, giraffe, lion, buffalo and an abundance of antelope species.
It's all about the wildlife at Garden Route Game Lodge, and your safari is the time when you get to spot some of our resident game. There are two safaris included per night spent at our game reserve. Departure is early morning and late afternoon, as this is when our wildlife are most active — in the heat of the day they tend to rest up.

Sundowners on the Savanna
As the sun dips below the Langeberg, we pause at one of our most scenic lookout points. Local wines, craft beers, and the golden light of Africa — this is the moment that stays with you forever.
Evening Tradition
Boma Fire
After the evening safari, guests gather around the crackling fire at our traditional African Boma. This time-honoured tradition brings together travellers from around the world to share stories, enjoy complimentary drinks, and savour the magic of the African night.
The warmth of the fire, the sounds of the bush, and the canopy of stars create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else on Earth. It's where friendships are forged and safari memories are made.

Guided Bush Walk
Stalk game on a guided bush walk in the predator-free safe area of our game reserve and learn more about some of the smaller mammals that inhabit our reserve.
Walking through the African bush is a completely different experience to driving through it. You'll notice the smaller details — tracks in the sand, dung beetles at work, the intricate patterns of spider webs, and the medicinal uses of indigenous plants.
Your ranger will share their knowledge of tracking, bush survival skills, and the ecology of the fynbos biome that makes the Garden Route so unique. It's an immersive educational experience that deepens your connection to the natural world.

The Garden Route is a birder's paradise, and our reserve is home to over 180 species of birds. Take a self-guided bird walk along our marked trails and discover the remarkable diversity of our feathered residents.
Colourful sunbirds and sugarbirds are attracted to the fynbos and aloes that abound throughout the reserve. Look out for fish eagles soaring overhead, secretary birds stalking through the grass, and the striking lilac-breasted roller perched on fence posts.
Birding guides and species lists are available at reception. Whether you're a serious twitcher or a casual observer, the bird life here will delight and surprise you.
An audio bird identification app is planned for future launch.

Bird Hide & Bird Watching
Our bird hide offers a peaceful sanctuary for observing the remarkable bird life of the Garden Route. Positioned overlooking a waterhole, it provides excellent opportunities to watch birds going about their daily routines undisturbed.
The hide is particularly rewarding early in the morning and late afternoon when bird activity peaks. Watch red and yellow bishops display their vibrant plumage during breeding season, and observe water birds feeding and bathing.

Fauna & Flora
The Garden Route is renowned for its remarkable biodiversity, and our reserve showcases this natural heritage beautifully. The unique Cape Floral Kingdom — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — meets the African bush here, creating an extraordinary ecological tapestry.
The fynbos biome is one of the world's six floral kingdoms, despite covering a tiny fraction of Earth's surface. Over 9,000 plant species call this region home, many found nowhere else on the planet. From the striking King Protea to delicate ericas and restios, the botanical diversity is staggering.
